A melange of eccentric, classy and strange, odd Janko draws on elements
of Slovak decorative folk dress and symbolism, and the old Central European charm. Created by artist Mima Chovancova, the collection features a range of wearable art creations for grown-up eccentrics, offering an elevated and sophisticated clothing line, infused with the drama and melancholy of our Motherland.

After temporarily moving back to her hometown Bratislava in 2020, Mima took her exploration of her cultural heritage further and created a small fashion brand that would help her explore and celebrate her ‘slovakness’ and introduce the brooding intensity of what she refers to as Danube Noir with her fellow eccentrics in the UK, where she and the brand are based.
Odd Janko items, mostly femme in aesthetic, are gender non-specific and produced responsibly in small runs.
We combine a dramatic, enchanting aesthetic with modern-day values for disenchanted, environmentally conscious consumers.

Welcome to the phantasmagorical world of Death Becomes Them- a new, sustainable clothing line by odd Janko.
At odd Janko, we constantly strive to find ways of creating beautiful things without negatively impacting the environment. Thus, reworking and adapting preowned and vintage pieces feels like a natural evolution of our process. By using discarded materials,
we reduce waste and promote a greener approach to clothing creation and consumption.

The Death Becomes Them line is a personal homage to the kaleidoscope of cultural references Mima- our founder has been collecting since childhood.
Our imagination is fuelled by the delightful weirdness and opulence of 1990s European fantasy television and its unhinged and historically questionable costuming, laced with Czech New Wave’s experimental gothic cinema and Central European folklore and mythology, with a hint of the melodrama of 80s New Romantics. Death Becomes Them
is a playful, beguiling celebration of self-expression and visual identity.
